LAKEFIELD CLASSICS - TVR Car Club Visit

We are great friends with the members of the TVR Car Club and met some of them at our new workshop opening. Below are some newsletter extracts of comments from them.

Check out their website for more information on the club.

Letter to David Gray

Dear Dave & Team,

Thanks for the great day out at Lakefield Classics and for you and your teams hospitality. I trust the rest of your days events were successful for you too. The barbecue went down a treat, especially the venison sausages, please pass on our compliments to your chefs (Mrs Gary and assistant.

Your son and his pals seemed quite impressed with the turn out of TVR's, I was also happy to see that our members made it along too. I trust that they will generate some business for you; they were well impressed with your premises and what you have to offer for the older and recent TVR's. I am sure they will pass the message on to the other members in their regions.

We had a great run back down to Aberdeen over the Lecht all be it a bit windy at the top. My S3 managed to keep up with a modern S3 (Audi Quattro S3), mind you I do not think he was trying to hard, certainly gave me a buzz keeping up with him.

Once again Dave, on behalf of the TVRCC, thanks for your hospitality and we wish you all the best or your company's future. It takes the skills of small companies like yours to keep these rare sports cars on the road and to keep their owners passion for them alive.

Regards

Barry Ferguson, TVRCC Joint RO for the NES Region

N.E.S. Club News

We all enjoyed our trip to Lakefield Classics.

Eight of us met at Alford, drove up to the Lecht Ski Centre for coffee and then had a leisurely drive to Kingussie for our "barbie" at David Gray's garage.

We received a warm welcome and were pleasantly surprised by David's set up in his garage. He has two ramps and full bodyshop facilities including a low-bake oven.

Then we were shown work in progress:

There was a shell of a 1969 E Type Jag ready for respraying, a Griff 4.5 being prepared for Sprinting - this car is completely stripped out with a full roll cage fitted and David is aiming for a kerb weight of 920Kg compared to a standard car which weighs 1062Kg, this should give the Griff a greater power to weight ratio.

There was also a 450SEAC race car again stripped out and housing a 4.6 V8 pushing 324 BHP and 348 Torque, at 810Kg this car should be fast and I am looking forward to Knockhill on 28th May when David and I will both be Sprinting. Noel has told me that my car is almost finished, so hopefully I should be there!!

David and his helpers put on an excellent spread for us. We had just started to tuck in when the familiar rumble of distant V8's grew louder as our friends from the other Scottish regions joined us.

On the day I reckon there were at least 12 TVR's ranging from Vixen to a T350 and David was delighted with the turn out.

David told me he would welcome any enquiries regarding work on Ford or Rover based TVR's from total restorations down to servicing, he also has an enclosed transporter for pick up and delivery if need be.

His rates are very reasonable as well.
